The broadsides work as one cohesive story of the effect of outsiders like tourist and missionaries on the craft culture of indigenous communities in Namibia from the artist's point of view. Left to Give. includes six different pulled and beaten handmade papers that are made out of a combination of six fibers including flax, abaca, cotton linter/colored cotton t-shirts, mitsumata, lokta, and bamboo. The piece includes both recycled paper and machined paper products. All of the text is letterpress printed on a Vandercook Press from polymer plates. Additional materials used include graphite, spray paint, and thread.
